JLC Military Career

Dad sat down at age 71 and began a series of recordings recalling his military experiences. He filled both sides of a single cassette tape for a total of about 90 minutes. He used the same Sony Walkman recorder shown below in an earlier post. Here is Part 1 which he began recording on August 28, 1990.

And here is Part 2 which he concluded on March 29, 1992.

Does anyone know the date and occasion of this photo? I'll add more chapters... God willing.

Emily Carnochan reports: "The photo was taken in May of 1942 according to a note on the original in Dad's handwriting. I listened to the recording and found it easy to listen to. I entered a comment but it didn't seem to stay on the screen.
Looking forward to seeing you and Barbara soon. Oh, the photo was taken at Kelley Studio in Hagerstown. Love, MOM"

These are great stories - I only remember hearing the brief overview; But I never heard about the trip to the Military Ball at the U of Md with Dad in borrowed uniform masquerading as an advanced ROTC Officer!. I suspect he was successful in impressing his date!
