Between the chairs is the secretary that for years was in the "back parlor" – or whatever we called that room - at Holly Springs Farm.
Objects and their stories. Then stories about the stories. What do you remember? What connections can you make? What can we gather together?

I remember setting up the card table just in front of the secretary on xmas morn to make our annual batch of mimosas - don't forget the triple sec! I'll sure miss sharing that tradition with all of you this year . . . please remember us "Texans" when that occurs at B.C this christmas morning.
XOXO,

The new pattern for gathering on Christmas morning now seems set. Everyone easily gathers at Mom and Dad's place, nibbles food, sips mimosas (make to exacting quality standards) and exchanged gifts and Christmas joy. This was our third year gathering beneath the secretary.
This secretary is from the Marbury family and dates to the 1840's. I had it refinished in the early 1980's by Antique Imports. It is one of my favorite possessions.
I remember being fascinated as a child by the contents of the Secretary when it was on the farm- It seemed it was filled to the brim with incredible treasures -from marbles to letters and notes from Linton and Marbury family members. It is stilled filled with incredible treasures- certainly less full and more organized- from handpainted Carnochan china to Memaw crystal. What joy!
